Is Lobbying a Trade in Influence

The media occasionally report cases of financing election campaigns and other activities of political parties from companies that in turn receive millions of tenders, but such cases were not fully cleared or the competent authorities initiated an appropriate procedure for investigating and processing them.

Hence, there has been no indication as to the connection between the companies that imported hundreds of thousands of used vehicles from other countries, which do not meet the environmental standards and which greatly contributed to the enormous air pollution that causes harmful consequences for the health of the citizens. Whether and how many of these firms influenced such a decision by the Government and whether these companies were in return donors of political parties that were in power at the time?

Or the latest case of a prompt amendment to the Law on Smoking, for which the adoption of some lawmakers from the ruling majority was elected, although the amendments to this Law on any parameters cannot be considered reform, except that they are of interest to the owners of restaurants and cafes. Do some of these owners who have an interest in amending the law have financed the electoral campaign of political parties in power or are there other connections?

Hence the need arises from:
Enhanced activity by competent authorities to detect cases of trafficking in influence and their processing and sanctioning, so that the criminalization of trade with influence does not remain only on paper.
